ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears believe David Montgomery avoided a torn ACL in Week 4 against the Lions.
It would be the best-case scenario for Montgomery, who was in serious pain when he hurt his knee in the second half of Chicago's Week 4 win over Detroit. Montgomery had run roughshod over the Lions, rushing for 106 yards and two scores before leaving for the locker room. Damien Williams looks to be the team's No. 1 back if Montgomery were to miss time with the knee injury. Williams handled eight carries and caught two passes Sunday against the Lions. He should be added in all formats this week. Khalil Herbert could also see some run with Montgomery sidelined.
